This Page is all about The "A" team Stocks Created by Paul Bishop
(airgunner@juno.com). And here is the Back Side of the Stocks The Saga August 20th 2001 Hans & I Spent a few hours with Paul a few days ago to talk with him about making up a mockup stock for our new gunstocks. He looked at what the previous stock maker attempted to do in making our stocks and picked up on numerous mistakes in the stock that we hadn't even noticed yet. These errors will never come in to play on the stocks that Paul is making because he is intuitive enough to find and preemptively prevent the error from occurring. Paul is great to work with. He UNDERSTOOD what we were talking about as far as needs of fit and dimensions. We left an action and hardware for the mockup stock. He sent us a sketch within 1 day and by the second day had all the inletting done in a mockup. He is now shaping the mockup stock for a fitting as we return from England’s World FT Championships at the end of this month. We so far are very pleased with Paul’s professionalism and attention to details. We are actually anxious to return from England to see what Paul has done for us.
February 24th 2002 Hans & I visited Paul yesterday (2/23/02) regarding a fitting for our NEW Stocks that he has been making for us. We were thrilled with what he already has done and how quickly it got to this point. There have been some delays such as ordering a new blank for the stocks because the previous, supposedly stock man, ruined enough of the specially made wood that there wasn't enough left to have Paul do what the other person couldn't do after nine months. A 13 week delay to have the new blank made up. But these delays had nothing to do with Paul. The stocks looked Great!!! Paul has made the fit absolutely perfect and utilized the supplied hardware to the utmost. Imagine identical stocks but in mirror image. Hans shoots left handed & I shoot right handed. There is definitely a WOW factor with these babies. Can't wait to see what they look like when we go down in 3 weeks for the final fitting prior to the finish being applied. He has come up with suggestions during fittings that we wouldn't have on our own. Paul showed us some sample finishes that were absolutely Gorgeous. We decided on the one we liked the most, which just happens to be the same one he applied to his personally Daystate Huntsman Stock that obviously he built. We highly recommend Paul Bishop for any Stock work anyone may want to have done. Paul is Fast and Conscientious. By all Means contact him with our FULL Recommendation which we never give lightly.
April 7th 2002 Hans & I took delivery of our new “A” Team stocks Created by Paul Bishop. Paul did an absolutely Magnificent job of sculpting the specially ordered Laminate into works of art. They fit like a glove even before we started minutely adjusting the infinitely adjustable Anschutz Hook butt Pad and Feinwerkbau P70 Cheek Piece Hardware. Not to mention the adjustable height Forearm. Each stock is identical but in mirror image. (Hans shoots Left Handed & I shoot Right Handed). The grains in the wood of the 2 different stocks were sculpted to match identically except for slight variations in the grip area which was individually fitted for each of us. On delivery we immediately put our NJR actions in the new stocks and then shot them in the sight-in range for about 25 minutes just before our match. These stocks feel great in the hand. They feel like they hold on to you so you don’t have to do much at all. It seemed like I couldn’t miss even though the wind picked up and we were shooting in the International Class (I.C.) which has a 12 FTLB Limit (Wickedly difficult in the wind). These stocks made me feel like I was shooting better and that extra mental confidence is always a plus. I managed to Miss a real long kneeling shot by shaking too much and the wind caught me on another, so only 2 misses for the match. Admittedly it was an easier match then we normally setup, but it was the beginning of the year and the next highest score (by a full powered shooter) was still 5 behind my score so I will attribute shooting better to the extra confidence the new stock instills. We just love the look of these new babies you have just got to see them.
