The “A” Team Easy Airgun Ballistics Program
The “A” Team’s Ballistics Software is now available.
The “A” Team Easy Airgun Ballistics (A.T.E.A.B.) Program is now easier to use. Check out the features below (a few new ones have been added).
The ATEAB program is now available on 3 1/2 inch Floppy Diskette for $20 US. Fill out the ATEAB Order Form and send to Ray Apelles with $20 and you will receive the ATEAB program and The ATEAB Tutorial through the mail.
Now you can shoot with the same precision as The “A” Team . . . running our exclusive, proprietary airgun ballistics software on your PC.
I wrote the original program in 1995, and have just finished converting and upgrading it to be PC compatible. We believe it is one of the chief reasons we at The “A” Team do so well at Field Target Matches.
It is completely menu-driven, so it “walks you through” setting up your gun and scope in a series of easy-to-follow steps. You just step through a few questions . . . the software does the rest.
This is the ONLY airgun ballistics software we know of that . . . (see new features added 4/2003 below)
--Input of Scope Minute Of Angle in decimal format. (When testing a scope you may find that the Scope MOA is not as advertised but a very different non-even value. You can input any Scope MOA, not just the standard 1/8, 1/4, 1/2. The program does the rest.)
--Explains how to Calculate the true Minute Of Angle of your scope. So many scopes are not accurately marked from the factory. It even gives an example from one of our guns. Just added 4/2003 - Scope Minute Of Angle (SMOA) calculator. Input a few pieces of data and your constants are calculated for you and input into ATEAB. Cuts down on typing and transposition errors. NEW Feature added 4/2003
--Displays & prints out Point of impact at ALL distances, by ANY increment you choose, from X-yards to Y-yards.
--Displays & prints out Click settings for ALL incremented distances.
--Displays & prints out Wind Drift at ALL distances. (You choose the wind velocity to input)
--Displays & prints out Pellet Velocity at ALL distances.
--Displays & prints out Vertical Pellet Velocity at ALL distances.
--Displays & prints out Foot Pounds at ALL distances.
--Displays & prints out Time Of Flight at ALL distances.
--Calculates a Best-Zero trajectory. Gives you a minimum Hold Over / Hold Under out to a chosen maximum impact distance. (Great for Target Shooters, Hunters & Hunter class shooters using holdover method).
--Optimum Point Blank Zero trajectory. Similar to Best Zero trajectory. Gives you the best trajectory to accomplish minimum Hold Over / Hold Under based on a chosen Kill Zone Radius. (Great for Target Shooters, Hunters & Hunter class shooters using holdover method) NEW Feature added 4/2003
--Calculates your TRUE OPTICAL SCOPE HEIGHT. Your TRUE OPTICAL SCOPE HEIGHT changes based on the adjustments you make to your target turrets to zero your scope. Measuring the scope height with a ruler or calipers measures only the scope tube height, NOT the Line of Sight to Barrel Bore Height. By allowing the ATEAB program to calculate your TRUE OPTICAL SCOPE HEIGHT your trajectory will always be more accurate then any trajectory calculated using an externally measured scope height.
--Allows for changing velocities as temperature changes --- GREAT for C02 shooters! After the program prints out a chart it then asks if you want to go to the Advanced Features. If you start a match at one velocity and the temperature changes you can now know all the new points of impact at all the different velocities starting from one reference velocity. You can print out many charts with different starting velocities and then adjust for velocity changes at a match if the temperature changes. You can also see what a 10 or 15-fps change in velocity does to your point of impact and there fore to the group size.
--Change a constant to allow you to flatten or steepen the arc of the trajectory.
--Even gives you 11 different printout formats to choose from.
--After displaying or printing out a chart you can change any input you like without having to re-enter all of the data. This makes it easy to experiment or correct errors inputting data not caught until you look at the printout.
--An Explanation and example of how to calculate your own Velocity Retention Factors. Calculating your own VRF’s requires one chronograph, a tape measure, a simple calculator and about 30 minutes to setup, test and calculate. Just added 4/2003 - Velocity Retention Factor (VRF) calculator. Input a few pieces of data and your constants are calculated for you and input into ATEAB. Cuts down on typing and transposition errors. NEW Feature added 4/2003
--Accepts Ballistic Coefficients (BC) as well as VRFs. Users can now use projectile data found in other sources (websites, reloading manuals, bullet/pellet manufactures data, etc....). Easier to use for firearms shooters and re-loaders. NEW Feature added 4/2003
--Built in Ballistic Coefficients (BC), Velocity Retention Factor (VRF), and true Scope Minute Of Angle (SMOA) calculators. Input a few pieces of data and your constants are calculated for you and input into ATEAB. Cuts down on typing and transposition errors. NEW Feature added 4/2003
--Users of the program can submit VRFs and BCs that will be added to the program in future updates. Submitters will get an acknowledgment in the program for the work they have done.
--The “A” Team’s Easy Airgun Ballistics (ATEAB) Program has just been made easier to use. You can now skip all of the explanatory menus and go straight to the inputs that are needed. Great once you understand all the inputs of the program.
--The ATEAB program will allow you to sight-in your gun with one pellet and then give you an altered trajectory for putting in a different pellet. Of course you will have to input the velocity, VRF, VRFD, and pellet weight (optional) of the new pellet. This is another one of those features that the ATEAB program has that no other ballistics program has. You can change the velocity of the same pellet you are shooting to see what happens to the trajectory, (as happens with C02 and temperature changes). You can be shooting Premiers and know what happens if you change to Kodiaks, Ram Jets, Copperheads or what ever.
New features added to new version.
--A NEW chart print format has been added to get you a quick chart with minimum inputs. This allows a complete novice to get an accurate chart in minutes with just the data required so that you are ready for that first match or hunting trip even without using the included tutorial. Then later you can go through and learn all the nuances that make this program superior to all others.
--Extra Reticle Aim Point Measurements. The ATEAB program shows you the distance between your crosshairs and up to 4 Extra Reticle Aim Points. If you have a Duplex or Mill Dot Reticle then you have extra aiming points in your reticle. The ATEAB program tells you what the distance between aiming points is at all your printed yardages. (This is great for hold over shooters that know how much to hold over but not what it looks like through their scope. You have a built in ruler. You can measure your kill-zone size or anything that you range find on).
--Extra Reticle Aim Point Clicks. The ATEAB program shows you the number of clicks to your new Aim Point (up to 4 different Aim Points can be calculated at the same time). This is great for people with high scope mounts that need more then one revolution of the Elevation Turret to hit at the short or very long distances. Just use one of the extra aim points and click to that aim point instead of the cross hairs. This can be done with a Duplex or a Mill Dot Reticle.
--You can have the ATEAB program automatically choose the high or the low Floating Aim Point (Duplex and Mill dot Reticles have the same spacing between upper and lower graduations from center cross hair) or you can have the ATEAB program use a Fixed Aim Point (some scopes, such as Nightforce, only have extra aim points in one direction, usually down) which always shows you the clicks to the same aim points (4 possible aim points).
--You can also use any of the aim points for windage. This will help you know how much to holdover in the wind or when measuring a target. The possibilities are endless.--Up Hill & Down Hill incline shooting compensation. The ATEAB program tells you where to hold or click for 2 different incline angles that you input. ATEAB calculates and prints out 2 complete Trajectories for 2 different incline angles and displays them side by side with the non-incline Trajectory for easy comparison.
--All Outputs can be sent to the screen, the printer and/or a text file. You can run a number of charts and print them out later or store them in a file in your computer for your record keeping. You can also send charts to others via email. This makes life much easier if you are using a laptop and can’t get to a printer connection for a while or are running on a system that doesn’t have printer access. You can store your charts on a floppy disk to move to another computer later for printing or storage.
--All Program parameters can be saved to a file for easy re-loading in the future. This will cut down on inputting data when you want to run a chart for the same gun in the future. Just load the file and change those few parameters that need altering for your new chart.
This is the very same program we use in competition. It has passed all of our tests to date, and is accurate, stable and user-friendly. It is a PC-only program and it runs under DOS from Windows 95 or Higher.
--The ATEAB program also has a Tutorial to guide you through the use of the program and it’s advanced features. It shows you how to Calculate Scope Height, Minimum shot group size from your gun, how to substitute another pellet into your existing trajectory, how to use the Best Zero features and much, much more. With it you will become proficient with the program in a very short time.
--ATEAB Web-Updates are similar to an antivirus update. Web-Updates will keep you current with the latest pellet data and will also make corrections to ATEAB as is needed. (The Main program updates are sent out as email attachments. Web-Updates are for the support files that ATEAB can not run without.) This is part of the users free Updates/Upgrades so please utilize them. Click Here to go to the ATEAB Web-Update page.
Moreover, as a licensed user, you will be entitled to FREE Tech Support via e-mail or telephone from The “A” Team. As a paid user you will automatically receive free updates through e-mail as they are introduced.
